On September 28th I fished the catch and release section on the Taylor River with my dad and our friend Alex Ivanovic from Belgrade, Serbia. We got a late start because I had a football game but we still had a great afternoon on the river. We saw some really big fish but they were being super selective. The brown trout were chasing each other and jumping out of the water like crazy. They are getting ready to spawn. We fished until dark but none of us actually landed a fish. I finally hooked a fish at the end of the day but my dad was to slow to help me with the net and the fly pulled out! I guess that makes us even since I did not help him net a large brown trout he hooked and lost. This was one of those fun days of fishing with my dad and my friend Alex and it did not even matter that we did not land a single fish.
There were two big trout in front of this rock that I fished to for over two hours. I hooked one and he broke me right off!
Like I said above, we fished until dark. This was right before I hooked a fish on a small blue winged olive emerger.
Alex just kept casting and casting. He was wet wading all day and never put on a jacket even when it was raining and the wind was blowing!
I learned some new casting techniques from Alex. He is an intense fly fisherman.
