This past weekend my family and I went to Aspen, Colorado for my sister's gymnastics meet. We decided to go up a day early so that my dad and I could do some fishing. My dad and I fished the Roaring Fork River at Basalt. We started off using a dry-dropper rig and my dad caught a nice rainbow trout then switched to a Czech Nymph rig. I also had to switch to a nymph rig because of the deep water. After a little while my dad caught another fish and I switched one last time to a sculpin pattern and ended up hooking a few fish, one of which broke me off. While I was still trying to figure out what the fish were eating my dad was catching tons of fish. Towards the end of the day my dad let me use his rig and once again I hooked but did not land any fish. I was a little disappointed that I did not land a fish but it was still cool to have gotten to fish a new river!
The next day my sister Ava had her gymnastics meet and did really good. It was a very exciting weekend and I would like to share some photos with you. Hope you enjoy.
